The Art of Relating to People

You’re invited to a weekend workshop about relationships on the first weekend of June. On Friday night June 5 and Saturday June 6, Doug and Kelly Floyd (Spring of Light Ministries) discuss all forms of relationships including marriage, parent-child, sibling, friends, acquaintances, employers and employees, strangers and even enemies. Drawing from the Biblical wisdom revealed in the Law and the Prophets and fulfilled in Jesus Christ, we’ll discuss what love looks and acts like in very concrete circumstances.

Some of the specific topics we’ll cover include:

  • The 3 expressions of Love revealed in the 10 Commandments
  • Family as the primary Biblical metaphor for all human relationships
  • The different expressions of love in different relationships
  • Psychology vs Biblical wisdom (opportunities and challenges)

As with all my retreats, this will be an “open conversation.” While I am offering a framework for thinking about relationships, I am not coming with all the “answers.” Everyone will be welcome to participate. And we’ll have some specific exercises designed to help each person explore the relationships in their own life in light of God’s Word.

Instead of meeting at a cabin, we’re trying something different by hosting it at a training facility in Knoxville.
