Is a religious teacher always supposed to answer all your questions about God? Maybe not. Here’s Richard Wurmbrand’s definition of a teacher:

The proper teacher does not answer questions. Neither am I prepared to give you complicated replies to your multitudinous queries. The best thing for a teacher of religion to do is to efface himself, to withdraw into the shadows, not to be the embodiment of a word of God, but only a voice through which the Master might say whatever word He wishes, or a silent lute awaiting His desires.

Right on the money! I’ve been reading the translation and commentary on Torah that David Legg gave me, and it has been a true blessing. As I read through Exodus, I see how this quotation is the whole of Moses’ life.
