A native of East TN, Doug and his wife Kelly (see Kelly's art) live in Louisville, TN. Over the last 15 years, Doug has concentrated his energies on interpersonal communication challenges within the corporate, educational, religious, and private sectors.
As a communication specialist, Doug focuses on actions and attitudes that help groups and individuals reach their maximum potential. Combining his advanced training and extensive experience, Doug leads a variety of retreats and workshops focusing on creativity, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, small group communication, and various topics relating to the journey of faith. He also develops custom workshops based on request.
Trained with a Master of Arts in Rhetoric,
Doug focuses on ways that language can help build and foster healthy relationships within church, within businesses and within the local community.
He worked with Philips Magnavox to develop business-to-business marketing collaterals, creative thinking workshops, and product development initiatives. As the Internet began to grow, Doug provided the conceptual framework for Philips Dictation global website.
His creative thinking skills have been tapped by a variety of companies. When HGTV wanted to introduce a new television program, they asked Doug to help develop a game that offered entertainment while introducing the program. He has helped companies develop sales training materials, brand value statements, award-winning radio spots, and usability testing for websites.
Since the late 1980s, Doug has also served in various forms of ministry. As the Founder and Director of Spring of Light Ministries, Doug has had the opportunity to serve alongside a variety of Christian traditions including Baptist, Charismatic, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Anglican, and Quaker.
With a rich background in theatre and public speaking, Doug has spent much of his life presenting to groups of all sizes. He has even hosted radio talk shows as well as directing drama productions. He brings enthusiasm combined with thoughtful reflection to all his presentations.
